Plongeur depuis le millieu des années 50, il a fonctionné comme instructeur pour la première fois en 1959, au sein de la Fédération britannique BSAC, fédération devenue ultérieurement un des membres fondateurs lors de la création du CMAS. Robin est devenu instructeur PADI et DAN Europe en 2002 et pour le brevet international de premier secours 'Première réponse en cas d'urgence' en 2003. Il a délivré plus que 200 certifications à tous niveaux depuis.
Robin est aussi certifié en tant que mélangeur de gaz (nitrox, trimix) et technicien O2 NAUI No 007 (si, pas de blague!).

Professeur Emérite à la Faculté de Médecine, Robin est toujours chercheur médical à plein temps.

Robin is a qualified gas blender (nitrox, trimix) and O2 technician with NAUI, card number 007 (no kidding!).

Robin is Emeritus Professor at Geneva's Faculty of Medicine and is still a full time medical research worker.
